Mental Health and Well-Being Through Self Acceptance

Fitting in and feeling accepted by others can have a huge impact on our mental health and well-being. Especially in our younger formative years when we base our sense of identity on what others think of us.

Mostly other peoples thoughts on who we are stem from an initial first impression which is usually based on what we look like and it tends to stick - if we allow it too.

When we are connected to who we are, what we stand for and live freely from that sense of Self we can thrive and not care what other people think about our outer appearance.

Until we know ourself truly we will always be afraid of what others think of us, scared of getting old and losing our looks, or insecure about not meeting up to expectations of how we should look. It's exhausting. All that stress and anxiety over something that is transient and meaningless.

The work I share is mostly self portraits and represent different expressions of me. They are deeply personal, however the way I show them they become beautiful expressions of my inner spirit. They are telling of a deeper part of me without the vulnerability that goes with being exposed because no-one knows what they mean unless I tell them.

This is what inspired me to do what I do. To help others feel comfortable in their own skin and to be represented in ways that are fully expressive of them and who they are. When we accept and value ourselves for who we are we can become free from other peoples judgment of us. Their opinions stem from their own insecurities and say more about them than the judgement they have placed on you.

Love, accept and revel in your uniqueness and don't be afraid to shine who you are into the world.
